Job Summary

 
Professional Practice Responsibilities

  • Deliver care, prevention, rehabilitation, and health care administration services that are quality in nature and relevant to the functional demand of the players at all training sessions, practices and NHL games. 

  • Stay current with professional practice, research, and evidence to recommend employment of interventions to elevate player healthcare and performance management.

  • Under the guidance of the Head Athletic Trainer, help ensure the department's daily operational needs are met with the highest possible standard of professionalism, care and ethics.

  • Work proactively and collaboratively with other performance team members (team physicians, performance coaches, nutritionists, mental skills coaches, massage therapists) to achieve optimal health, wellbeing, and performance of the players.

  • Support and deliver emergency medical services within scope of practice.

  • Follow defensible documentation practices for medical and performance service delivery and communications. 

  • Promote a safety conscious and hygienic environment in your daily practice.

  • Support the collection, validation, analysis and interpretation of healthcare and performance data as directed.

  • Administer worker's compensation claims as directed.

  • Accompany players to medical appointments where necessary.

  • Support the management of medical and performance supplies.
  • Maximize the athletic potential of players through the development, instruction, progression, oversight and documentation of individual and group performance enhancements and recovery training activities.

  • Plan, implement, assess, and report player performance testing.

  • Ensure all supplements provided fall within the rules and regulations of the league; and provide nutrition education within your scope of practice as outlined by state regulations.

  • Assist with monitoring and coordinating equipment maintenance. 

  • Deliver other duties as assigned.

 
 
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • University-degree and valid license in Athletic Therapy or Athletic Training (Master’s degree preferred); 

  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach certification required;

  • Valid BLS certification (additional emergency medical training and certifications preferred);

  • 1 year or more relevant post-licensure work experience;

  • High availability to travel; 

  • Fluency in English, both oral and written; 

  • Knowledge of the electronic medical records systems and athlete management system;
