Job Summary

The Director of Finance directly supervises the Finance Department and Box Office employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and applicable laws. 

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as purchasing agent for the facility, following standard operating procedures for purchasing.
  • Responsible for the hiring and training of the accounting staff.
  • Supervises the office staff as applicable and employee relations for the facility.
  • Supervises and engages in all accounting procedures, including invoicing, cash receipts and disbursements, data entry, journal entries, and month end closings.
  • Manages and engages in the processing of invoices for payment, insuring that source documentation is appropriate and properly coded.
  • Manages and engages in the cash flow needs, investing idle funds, allowing for minimum operating account balances, and timely payment of accounts payable.
  • Reviews payroll reports, processes payroll checks and complies with tax requirements.
  • Manages and engages in the accounts receivable function and insures that revenues earned are properly accounted for and reported.
  • Provides a monthly accounting of revenues billed and collected.
  • Submits proper paperwork for reimbursements, (if any) to the facility for payroll or any other expense relating to facility operations.
  • Prepares and analyzes budgets and financial reports to submit to management as outlined by the management agreement.
  • Responsible for internal auditing, inclusive of the box office, inventory, payroll, and all other expenses.
  • Insures regulatory compliance in the area of personnel, particularly as it relates to labor laws, insurance issues, and company policy.
  • Responsible for preparing any tax forms, licenses, or permit applications for events and for the timely remittance of any taxes collected on behalf of the facility.

 

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in public accounting and/or financial management at a supervisory level or as department head.
  • Acts as Manager on Duty as required. Must work nights and weekends if required.
  • Ability to be a business partner with other departments insuring financial success of the venue.
  • Strong computer skills in data collection and reporting necessary.
  • Extensive knowledge of general and cost accounting.
  • Excellent math skills; high aptitude for figures.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and organizational ability.
