POSITION SUMMARY & OVERVIEW
Under the visionary and progressive leadership of the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA) to serve as the College’s Head Football Coach (HFC) and provide superlative and strategic leadership, development, supervision, and operational management of the College’s football program. The HFC will provide transformative leadership in the overall planning and growth of the College’s football program while nurturing a strong commitment to the College’s mission, values, and strategic priorities. The Head Football Coach is also instrumental in leveraging and creating opportunities for future growth of the football program and advancement of the department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS:
The Head Football Coach (HFC) will perform professional-level functions including (but not limited to) the following:
- Ensure compliance with all college, federal, national association and conference policies, rules and regulations, as well as all other laws, regulations, or policies affecting the football and athletic program;
- Insure all student athletes understand the policy and procedures of the college and the regulations of the governing body;
- Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport;
- Conduct prospect evaluations, on-campus, and off-campus visits, permissible communication periods with prospective student athletes, and eligibility criteria;
- Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development;
- Works with the athletics director in scheduling facilities for practices and competition;
- Make appropriate recommendations for scholarship awards within approved athletic scholarship policies and monitors compliance with the governing body athletic scholarship requirements;
- Lead the coaching staff with establishing strategies for recruitment and setting measurable goals for the team roster;
- Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators;
- Develop playbook materials; handle personal counseling needs of players directly supervised; public speaking and promotion;
- Promote an environment of world-class academic achievement complementing student-athlete health, safety and welfare while leading with the highest levels of ethical standards;
- Observes players, during competition and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement and,
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred
- Five to seven years of experience in collegiate coaching
- Fluency with the NAIA and NCAA intercollegiate rules marketplace and understanding of all major issues/opportunities within the industry.
- Exceptionally strong interpersonal and written and oral communication skills are essentially required for this head coaching position.
