Job Summary

Position​: Youth Coordinator

Part-Time, Year-Round Reports to Director of Operations

Cincinnati Ultimate (CU) runs adult and youth recreational ultimate frisbee leagues, programs, and tournaments in the Cincinnati/Dayton/Northern Kentucky areas. As a sport and a community, ultimate frisbee places a lot of importance in sportsmanship, social groups, and creating inclusive communities. 


In order to build a stronger pipeline for our future, CU is hiring a second employee focused on youth growth in our community. This is CU’s second hire to the organization, following the full-time Director of Operations position, hired in 2020. The primary objective for this second hire is to grow and continue building a supportive and sustainable youth ultimate program.

A successful candidate will facilitate efficient communication and logistical coordination; profitable events focused on the youth age range, growth in numbers of youth players, positive relationships with area organizations, volunteers, coaches, and parents, and work to improve the overall success of Cincinnati Ultimate. This new hire will have significant influence over the growth of their position and will be given space to create programming of their preference. 


Responsibilities include​:

  • Increasing the number of youth players across our communities.

  • Running the existing year-round youth leagues, tournaments, and programs. 

  • Interfacing with other organizations to learn their best practices and incorporate them into CU youth programs.

  • Act as administrator for our existing youth programs: leagues, summer select programs, clinics, etc. 

  • Oversee youth program budgets and assist in organizational bookkeeping. 

  • Oversee youth volunteers and coaches, including recruiting, ensuring coach requirements are met, and supporting where needed. 

  • Organize fundraising opportunities to help offset youth fees. 

  • Assist in hosting large-scale tournaments.

  • Assist the Director of Operations with the organization of overall Cincinnati Ultimate as needed, such as equipment management, vendor relations, and tournament operations. 

 
Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age and should be a high school graduate.

  • The ideal candidate has a flexible schedule and is community-focused and self-motivated.

  • Has a love for the game and the sports community, and the intention to spend the next 2-4 years at CU.

  • Has experience in and a passion for teaching and coaching youth in sports.

    • Previous experience with the sport of ultimate frisbee is preferred but not required.

  • Has 2-5 years of experience serving on or working with the board of a non-profit sporting organization or community organization. ​(preferred but not required)

  • Possesses strong organizational, budgeting, and project management skills. 

  • Has familiarity with spreadsheets, Google Applications, and social media platforms.

  • Will pass CU and USA Ultimate background checks.

  • Can attend all CU quarterly Board meetings and be willing to do some weekend and evening work, and also occasional travel.

Work Setting & Position Details: 

  • This job requires a flexible schedule and may include morning, daytime, and/or evening hours to provide programming to children outside of school hours. 

  • This position will require the ability to work from home as we do not have a physical office. 

  • This person should be able to lift 50 pounds and be physically able to lead children in clinics, including running, jumping, and throwing. 

  • This person should be able to provide their own means of transportation, including the ability to transport equipment needed for programs.


Commitment & Salary

The part-time commitments and compensation are negotiable and flexible. Depending on the candidate's needs and qualifications, this position could be salaried or hourly contract work. The salary would be a range of $25,000-30,000 and the hourly compensation would be comparable. CU would like to fill the position as soon as possible, but it will remain open until a suitable candidate is found. 


With successes in growth and positive income, this position could grow into a future full-time position.
