Boys & Girls Youth Basketball Coach — Part-Time

Job Summary

Miami Blue Rays is seeking dependable and positive youth basketball coaches to work with middle and high school boys and girls in our year-round basketball program.

Our coaches are responsible for developing players both on and off the court. This includes improving basketball skills, fundamentals, and basketball IQ while also promoting discipline, accountability, teamwork, confidence, academic responsibility, and strong character.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan and lead organized two-hour basketball practices

• Coach boys’ and girls’ teams during league games and tournaments

• Teach basketball fundamentals, skill development, strategy, and sportsmanship

• Develop and mentor players both on and off the court

• Promote discipline, accountability, teamwork, academic responsibility, and positive behavior

• Maintain a safe, positive, and professional environment

• Help ensure facilities are left clean and organized after practices and games

QUALIFICATIONS AND MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

• Previous basketball coaching or training experience, preferably with youth or high school players

• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, and game strategy

• Positive attitude and ability to serve as a role model

• Reliable, punctual, and able to travel to locations throughout Miami-Dade County

• Available for evening practices and selected weekend games and tournaments

• Must successfully complete a background check

• Must sign the Miami Blue Rays coaching agreement, including its non-compete requirements

• Must complete the Miami Blue Rays Coach Certification process as a condition of joining the program

• Must obtain and maintain all required certifications, registrations, and approvals through USA Basketball, NCAA/BBCS, and NSID as required by Miami Blue Rays

• Must remain compliant with all Miami Blue Rays coaching policies and certification requirements

• CPR and First Aid certification preferred

SCHEDULE

This is a part-time position. Teams generally practice twice per week for two hours. League games and tournaments are scheduled on selected weekends. Practice and game locations vary throughout Miami-Dade County.
