Description:

The Oakland Athletics are currently seeking a Full-Time Medical Services Coordinator. This role will report to the Director of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and be responsible for providing

administrative support to all club personnel regarding medical matters including processing medical claims and worker’s compensation.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Initiate and oversee medical claims and worker’s compensation claims processes, coordinating details with medical staff, insurance, legal teams, and third-party administrators.
  • Manage the processing of medical bills in Concur, ensuring accurate and timely payments with the finance department for third-party administrators.
  • Facilitate administrative support and scheduling for medical matters including procedures, therapy, negotiating service rates, and overseeing process until MMI.
  • Communicate with training staff regarding the status of injured players and review claims to provide third party administrators status updates.
  • Manage California Cumulative Trauma claims and facilitate the litigation process.
  • Serve as the main point of contact between medical facilities and the Oakland Athletics organization.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and policies. 
  • Maintain and update medical records for claims in internal systems.


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Strong and professional interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Highly developed time management skills to coordinate multiple concurrent projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google G-Suite, and ability to quickly learn new systems like Sedgwick.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee and company information.
  • Understanding of medical billing and sports injury legal processes is highly preferred.
