Job Summary

Program/Unit Description:

The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, will have an internship program for 2026-2027 in a variety of areas throughout Gopher Athletics. Gopher Athletics maintains a broad-based athletics program and participates in the Big Ten and WCHA conferences.

The Intercollegiate Athletic Department is committed to hiring a diverse staff and actively encourages candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply.

All interns will participate in an on-going ICA intern professional development program where they will tour Twin Cities sports facilities and have Q&A sessions with organizational and industry leaders. Each intern will also be assigned a senior member of the Gopher Athletics staff as a mentor for the year.

Internship: Football Coaching (Offensive/Defensive)

Supervisor: Gerrit Chernoff

Stipend: $833.33 bi-weekly

Term: January 2026 – January 2027

Required Qualifications:

       Bachelor's degree 

Internship Description:

You will be supervised by the QC’s, Coordinator and General Manager at the Larson Football Performance Center.  You will have an initial period of observation, followed by supervision as needed. Review will happen on a daily basis. You are expected to ask for assistance when needed. The QC’s, Coordinator and General Manager will mentor this internship. A general description of the internship opportunity is as follows:

Receive “hands on” learning experiences with:

·       Assisting with the execution of practice scripts

·       Providing assistance with practice and game planning

·       Providing support with other tasks assigned by QC’s or assistant coaches

·       Providing support with the daily office duties for the football coaches

·       Assisting in advancing the department's mission, vision, and strategic plan including its commitment to equity and diversity

·       Any other duties assigned by the General Manager
