LA Sparks Manager, Communications
Position Summary
The Los Angeles Sparks are seeking a Manager, Communications to play a critical role in the execution of both basketball and business communications. In this role, you will help elevate basketball storylines and business initiatives, cultivate media relationships, manage press operations, pitch stories, and support strategic communications across the organization. This position reports to the Senior Director, Communications.

This is a full-time position based in Los Angeles, California, with travel required for select road games and team-related events.
 
Key Responsibilities
·       Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, game notes, media guides and other communications materials.
·       Develop talking points and briefing materials for executives, coaches and players.
·       Execute media relations efforts at practices, games, community events and special initiatives.
·       Manage game credentials and support game-day media operations.
·       Oversee statistics, game notes and media guide production.
·       Pitch basketball, business and community stories to local and national media.
·       Staff players, coaches and executives for media appearances and community events.
·       Build strong relationships with media, broadcasters and WNBA Communications.
·       Support communications planning for organizational announcements and issues management.
·       Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications
·       Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field, or equivalent experience.
·       Minimum of five years of communications or media relations experience in sports, entertainment or a comparable industry.
·       Excellent writing, editing and presentation skills.
·       Strong understanding of basketball, game operations and media relations.
·       Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
·       Proficiency with Microsoft Office and media monitoring platforms.
 
Work Schedule
·       Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
·       Ability to travel for road games and league events.
