Job Summary
Summary: The Senior Editor will take an active role in the editorial process of all publications, including Magazine, the annual yearbook, commemorative programs, fan guides and other projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
Copy editing and fact-checking
Contribute story ideas and write multiple articles for each issue of Magazine, which could include a feature story (between 1,000–2,000 words), news briefs and reports
Compile statistics and/or content for the scorecard as well as other recurring sections in Magazine
Business-related responsibilities, including: disseminating publications to contributors and personnel; processing invoices for all writers, photographers, graphic design vendors; and maintaining records of publications revenue
Qualifications and Experience:
- 3-5 years of full-time (or comparable) journalism experience for a newspaper, magazine, website or related media outlet
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English or related field
- Professional copy-editing and fact-checking experience with a strong attention to details
- Knowledge of grammar, punctuation and AP style
- Working knowledge of baseball and the (current and historic)
- Ability to meet all deadlines
