Job Summary:
The Platform Engineering team is responsible for the data delivery powering all of ESPN's consumer facing digital products highlighted by the ESPN App, ESPN.com, Fantasy, and WatchESPN applications. With millions of fans creating billions of requests to platform services on a daily basis the team focuses heavily on quality, performance and scalability. As the key player in the distribution of data the team is also integral in the construction of digital products and is influential in their technical design. Responsibilities:
Work with senior staff to enhance and maintain existing software components
Design, implement, and improve RESTful APIs powering ESPN Products that deliver sports data and content
Build Capabilities . Develop a sense of the business problems that we are trying to solve for and build capabilities that scale and drive real impact.
Improve the quality of the API platform through unit and integration tests
Proactively support and maintain production systems to prevent issues before they occur
Clearly communicate technical findings, issues, and outcomes with other team members
Basic Qualifications:
Basic understanding of core Java, OO design, concurrency, etc
Problem solver . Enjoy new and meaningful technology or business challenges which require you to think and respond quickly
Passion and creativity . Are passionate about data, technology, & creative innovation
Team player . Enjoy working collaboratively with a talented group of people to tackle challenging business problems so we all succeed (or fail fast) as a team
Required Education
Junior, Senior, Graduate Level student or recent graduate (within 6 months of graduating) pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or related field.

Internship Eligibility
Must be enrolled in a college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship.
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
Must possess unrestricted work authorization
Program Dates: The length of this internship is 10 weeks, and the approximate dates are January 7. March 16, 2019. Interns will work 40 hours per week.
Housing: A limited amount of housing assistance may be available for those who qualify.
Transportation: Limited transportation assistance to and from work may be available for those who qualify.
