For over 100 years the College has valued providing the youth of Appalachia an opportunity to obtain a character-based education focused on service learning, without paying any out-of-pocket tuition expenses. The College earns numerous accolades yearly, including No. 1 in the nation for student selectivity of 4%, No. 1 among all Regional Colleges with 45% alumni giving rate and No. 2 among Southern Regional Colleges on the list of Great Schools, Great Prices by U.S. News & World Report for 2018. To achieve its vision, the College requires all students to participate in one of only nine work colleges programs recognized by the Work College Consortium in the United States.
