Job Summary

About the Position

    The interns will be given the chance to explore and gain further understanding in the field of Event Management, with a direct emphasis on the event coordination cycle. In addition, you will be assigned a culminating project to hone your research, analytical, and business skills. To assist with professional development, NYRR will schedule information sessions with key members from other departments, so that all interns will have a full comprehension of the organization. NYRR ultimately wishes to see growth in leadership, confidence, and competency in this specialized field.

 

 

  • Complete 20-week culminating project from June 18th - Dec 4th
  • Supporting role in the planning and execution of the NYRR Staten Island Half and TCS New York City Marathon
  • Assist with planning, coordination, and management of NYRR events from concept to execution, including logistics, timelines, staffing, supply/vendor management, budget management and reconciliation, etc.
  • Interact regularly with designated cross-functional teams and external partners
  • Assist with conducting post event analysis
  • Participates in departmental meetings
  • Administrative and other duties as assigned

 

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • Completed a minimum of two years in an accredited four-year college degree program, currently enrolled in graduate degree program; preferably studying Sports Management, Hospitality/Tourism, Marketing, or Business, or having just completed an undergraduate or graduate degree program; preferably studying Sports Management
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and time management skills
  • Willingness to travel, work various weekends and extended hours as needed.
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Must be a self-initiator
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Focused attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Works well under pressure and tight deadlines.

 

 

Other Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 days per week (M-F) 9:30AM – 5:30PM and various weekend events
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment greater than 25lbs
  • Comfortable presenting to organizational senior management
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must provide full work availability
