The Cocoa Expo Sports Center is a world-class complex with a rich history. The former training complex to the Houston Astros and Miami Marlins was the site for the first ever Miami Marlin major league baseball game. Having undergone almost $40 million in renovation and expansion in 2012, the Cocoa Expo Sports Center boasts well manicured fields, indoor skills training space, an extensive dormitory complex, first-class strength training and a full-service stadium.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Baseball will be responsible for the development, implementation, and revenue generation of the facility's baseball program.
PRE-OPENING TASKS
- Participates in planning/strategic meetings when requested
- Implements Baseball program marketing plan and strategy
- Participates in local/regional PR campaign
- Develops Baseball program schedule
- Integrates Baseball league information into facility management software
- Oversees the development of all Baseball program curriculum
- Forecasts all Baseball program revenue
- Generates pre-opening Baseball program sales
- Purchases Baseball equipment
- Participates in the acquisition and training of Baseball program staff
- Leads Baseball program alliance development efforts
- Participates in all grand opening events
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Creating baseball programs (leagues, camps, clinics, etc.)
- Marketing and promoting all baseball programs
- Updating and maintaining all baseball information on website, social media, and marketing materials in the facility
- Developing relationships with appropriate baseball clubs and organizations
- Driving constant growth of baseball programs
- Overseeing baseball leagues and tournaments including scheduling, standings team/player roster management, rule development, registration, and collections
- Purchasing and maintaining baseball equipment
- Managing all baseball staff
- Developing and managing umpire program
- Evaluating and improving program
- Complete any other special projects and daily assignments as directed by the General Manager
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor's degree in recreation, sports management or related field with 3-5 years' appropriate experience required
- Experience coaching/teaching both youth and adult sports
- Must have proven track record of developing, marketing, and selling recreation programs
- Must have excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and negotiating skills
- Must be a team player
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must have excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays and long hours)
- Must possess current CPR/FIRST AID certifications or must be willing to obtain them within a specified period of time
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds' waist high
- May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop or bend
- Will be required to operate a computer
- Facility has intermittent noise
