Job Summary: Sportsplex 251, located on the Horizons' Sports Campus will become Shenandoah Valleys' premier sport and recreation center. Located on 50 acres adjacent to Interstate 81 and 3 miles north of Downtown Harrisonburg, SportsPlex 251 will consist of indoor and outdoor multi-use fields, combined with onsite F&B, lodging, conference and recreation opportunities. This position will oversee the implementation of the marketing action plan including online, print, familiarization visits, regional event relationship building, and more. The objectives for this position are to study revenue and cost trends, forecast future performance, understand highest and best use of the facility resources, contribute to the design of a robust marketing plan in support of the key goals identified, and then to execute that plan. This position will be evaluated based on the reach and quality of the brand marketing effort, the success of the programmatic marketing effort, sponsorships sold, events booked, the number of visitors generated, new business development, new program expansion, and sales pace.
Essential Functions:
- Provides leadership to various staff members who contribute to the business development efforts of the venue
- Creates traffic building promotions, and stages all major events, contests, promotions
- Responsible for sponsorship execution
- Plans and executes special events
- Coordinates outside PR
- Solicits new business including prospecting and cold calling
- Creates and distributes banquet and event promotional packages
- Books group events and parties
- Directs the graphics team in creating in-house flyers, invitations, print ads, posters, e-mail marketing, and website content.
- Evaluated based on specific campaigns, and overall business tempo in camps, events, sports.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Achieves operational objectives by contributing marketing and sales information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
- Has general ability in graphic design and advertising, including work with Adobe CS suite software.
- Meets financial objectives by forecasting requirements; assisting in preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Accomplishes objectives by planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating advertising, merchandising, and trade promotion programs; developing field sales action plans.
- Improves product marketability and profitability by researching, identifying, and capitalizing on market opportunities; improving product packaging; coordinating new product development.
- Sustains rapport with key accounts by making periodic visits; exploring specific needs; anticipating new opportunities.
- Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Accomplishes marketing and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
