Job Summary

Job Summary: The Museum Vehicle Collections and Exhibits Specialistwill work with the Curator of Vehicles to help develop and maintain an inventory program for the vehicle collection; undertake and/or assist the Controller with periodic inventories of the Museum’s vehicle collection.

Job Responsibilities: 

• Completing condition reports for incoming and outgoing vehicle loans
• Supporting and assisting the Curator of Vehicles in the execution, installation, and deinstallation of permanent and special exhibits for the Museum
• Assisting with the creation and execution of programs associated with race events at the Motor Speedway 
• Transporting vehicles to and from the Museum
• Assisting with moving vehicles from storage and the Museum exhibition space 
• Creating, installing, and maintaining descriptive captions for the Museum’s automotive collection
• Serving as ambassador for the Museum
• Conducting research relative to automotive and racing topics
• Providing content to the Diector of Communications for social media and the Museum’s website
• Working with third party vendors in exhibit fabrication

Qualifications: 

• Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in history or automotive technology or three years similar work experience
• Working knowledge of the history and operations of the Motor Speedway and races occurring at the Speedway
• Working knowledge of basic automotive care
• Ability to use mathematics to design exhibit floorplans and use of Museum space, calculate square footages, and exact area composition for layouts
• Ability to use database software, Microsoft Office products (WORD and EXCEL), and other software and hardware technology systems

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Previous employment in a museum or similar organization
