Assistant Coach (Women's Basketball)

Job Summary

Job Functions

• Reports to the Head Coach for Women's Basketball.
• Assists the head coach with all facets of running a successful Division I program.
• Primary emphasis for the position is the recruitment and retention of qualified student –athletes, and maintaining compliance with all NCAA rules.

Responsibilities

• Performs coaching and recruiting duties.
• Complies with NCAA and Conference rules and regulations, and department plans.
• Demonstrates effectiveness of public relations, media relations, and people skills.
• Demonstrates effectiveness in monitoring student-athlete academic progress, retention, and graduation.
• Assist in scouting of opponents and creation of a game plan for each game.
• Assist in fundraising for the Women's Basketball and Athletics department.
• Sets and accomplishes program goals.
• Provide technical expertise and utilize sound coaching methods aimed at improving the athletic performance of student-athletes.
• Assist with planning and supervision of in-season and out-of-season practice sessions; team and individual practices.
• Demonstrates effectiveness in maintaining discipline and control of student-athletes and program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree at time of application.
• 3 years of basketball coaching experience.
• Ability to pass the NCAA Coaches Certification exam upon hire

Preferred

• Coaching experience at the college level.
• Recruiting experience at the college level.
• Strong oral, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate with a diverse student population, demonstrated integrity and strong leadership, and the willingness to be part of a collaborative team.
