Job Summary
The Position
- The University seeks an innovative and dynamic leader of its football program, who will work with students, faculty, staff, and alumni across the University to instill excellence in its football program and achieve unprecedented levels of success.
- The head coach is expected to recruit and retain a diverse group of exceptional coaches and student-athletes, while promoting academic and athletic excellence for the program.
- The Head Football Coach will direct all phases of the day-to-day operations of the University football program and will work with the Executive Director for Intercollegiate Athletics and Campus Recreation and other administrators to support the overall goals and objectives of the University.
Requirements for the Position
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of five years of coaching experience is required. Prior head coaching or collegiate coaching experience is preferred.
- Provide leadership in the planning and operation of the program.
- A proven track record of accomplishment of planning, on the field coaching and student-athlete development.
- Successfully develop and implement a comprehensive recruiting plan while graduating high performing student-athletes.
- Engage in retention initiatives for student-athletes through collaboration with numerous University offices.
- Ability to prepare, organize, design and successfully implement effective practice plans, off-season programs, scouting reports, and recruiting systems.
- Effective and timely budget management, equipment oversight, and travel planning.
- Ability to manage a large staff and work cooperatively across the campus community.
- Adherence to NCAA II, Lone Star Conference, and TAMUK rules and regulations.
- Ability to motivate and effectively communicate with student-athletes.
- A commitment to community engagement, fund raising and effective public relations.
- Enforce discipline and good sportsmanship behavior of coaches, graduate assistants, and student-athletes.
- Hire, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches in cooperation with the Director of Athletics.
- Assess and review the program and recommend changes and improvements to the Director of Athletics.
