  New England Free Jacks
  Auburndale, MA
  Sales
  Posted/Updated: 12/11/19

Job Summary

The New England Free Jacks are a brand new expansion team in Major League Rugby ("MLR"). The team was formally announced as the 9th MLR team in August of 2018 and played its first friendly match on October 20th 2018 against the Ontario Arrows in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The team competed in a number of additional friendly matches in 2019, and will be formally joining the league and playing a full competitive season in 2020. The company is headed by Alex Magleby, the former captain of the USA Men's Eagles 7's and 15's sides, and most recently the General Manager of USA Rugby.

At the Free Jacks, we are looking to grow the game of rugby across the United States and be a vehicle toward promoting the values of the game. We believe that the cultural elements of rugby are immensely positive, with universal attributes like respect, teamwork, collective individualism, and teamwork. Ultimately, our goal is to create one of the top global sports brands in the world that is immediately identifiable with these values.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Cold calling, emailing and contacting potential ticket buyers using strategy and guidelines provided by team
  • Acting as a positive and constructive representative of the team at all times
  • Spearheading efforts around group, multigame and corporate hospitality outreach
  • Diligently reporting progress and summarizing feedback in CRM system
  • Responding and processing all incoming ticket requests
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Required Qualifications:

·       Flexibility - as outlined above, we are a start-up and have to act like it. Our biggest need is someone who is able to easily adjust to the varying immediate needs of the business.

·       Attitude - we have a small team that is growing bit by bit, that shares a variety of different experiences and perspectives, but a common positive attitude and excitement to be involved in such a unique project. We don't need someone who is a rugby fan (yet!) but rather someone who appreciates challenges and can be comfortable in discomfort.

·       Diligence - our brand will never succeed if we do not take care of our players and our fans. To that end, consistently responding to fans, following up diligently on leads, and remaining positive in the face of adversity are all vital towards the success of our business. We need someone who can be reliable and diligent on these tasks.

·       Proactivity - future big issues will start out as small ones in a nascent company. The ideal candidate will be able to identify problems and recommend solutions as to how to best solve them.
