Job Summary

 

Specific Functions/Activities Summary


  • Have a leadership role in the external reporting activities for Sports Co., which include the preparation of quarterly and annual documents that are filed with the SEC. 

  • Responsible for ensuring the Company’s continuing compliance with accounting rules promulgated from regulatory bodies which include the SEC and FASB.

  • Assist in the preparation and the review of other SEC filings that arise as a result of debt and/or equity offerings, as well as Form 8-Ks, proxy statements, etc;

  • Research, analyze and document all significant technical accounting matters;

  • Assist with the assessment of the impact of new accounting standards / pronouncements on the Company’s financial statements, business processes and the related internal control over financial reporting;

  • Review of the Company’s annual and quarterly press releases to the public in order to identify any potential issues which may require a change in the disclosure in the related filing with the SEC or the release itself;
  • Track and ensure accuracy of purchase accounting adjustments.

  • Complete special projects as assigned;

  • Review quarterly and annual EPS calculations, as well as share-based compensation expense accrual;

  • Provide guidance to the accounting team via forms and instructions in order to gather the appropriate data to comply with all financial reporting requirements, including footnote information and KPMG audit requests;

  • Provide information to external and internal auditors as necessary; and

  • Manage, train and evaluate staff.

 

Qualifications


  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience, preferably a mix of public accounting and accounting in private industry.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

  • Must be current on both quarterly and annual SEC disclosure requirements, as well as current generally accepted accounting principles

  • Demonstrated strength in technical aspects of accounting, from preparation of financial statements / footnote disclosures to analytical review.

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and interpret data and draw relevant conclusions.

  • Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Active CPA license (required)

 

Education

  • Candidates who have completed 60 credits of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred.
  • Educational requirements may differ from job to job based on the role.
