Job Summary
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Understands NCAA, conference, and college regulations and remains current on all legislative proposals regarding athletics and academics.
• Implements policies and procedures to comply with NCAA legislation.
• Review potential eligibility issues.
• Conducts rules education for coaches & student-athletes.
• Secondary contact with the GMAC for all compliance reporting and monitoring.
• Reviews NCAA eligibility list and certification list for all teams.
• Runs academic reports to assist in the monitoring of progress toward degree and eligibility requirements.
• Certifies academic credentials and other requirements for official visits.
• Explains pertinent academic policies and NCAA rules in initial squad meetings.
• Assists the assistant director of athletics for compliance & rules education in the preparation of papers, reports, planning documents, agendas and policies and procedures, i.e., ISSG, EADA report, NCAA Graduation Rates, etc..
• Projects and promotes an inclusive education with the highest standards where student-athletes are empowered to lead lives of personal significance and professional success as global citizens.
• Operates within the mission of the College and athletics department to ensure a full NCAA DII student-athlete experience.
• Assists in game operations for some home athletics contests.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends.
• Other duties as assigned by associate athletic director for compliance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Academic tutoring or advising experience.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules.
• Strong communication skills.
• Must have strong team-building and management skills.
• Must have demonstrated ability to recruit prospective student athletes.
• Experience working at an NCAA Division I, II, or III athletics department.
• Experience with developing student academics/learning skills.
• Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to supervise respective staff, as well as understand the student-athlete’s commitment to academics, is a must.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
