The Globetrotters are charismatic, elite athletes and real-life superheroes who consistently leverage their star power to light up a room, light up a court, light up a venue, light up the competition, light up the community and light up the world. They have done this in spite of any and all challenges, including the challenges facing the world today. As the Globetrotters build on our wonderful 90+ year storied history, we are seeking outstanding individuals to help elevate the brand to emotionally connect with the next generation of fans contemporizing it to the 2020s YouTube world. As the Social Media and Community Manager for the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters, you will be empowered to inspire and connect with new audiences and develop fans.
Your passion for the Harlem Globetrotters and the mission is matched only by your skills on TikTok, YouTube, Snap, Instagram and new social platforms as they emerge. As a creative with an eye for design, strong word play and skillfully savvy on social, you will be the ambassador for one of the world’s greatest brands, and help move it forward in a meaningful way by:
- Growing and engaging followers and fans
- Forging partnerships for cross-promotion
- Collaborating with players, partners and audiences to entertain
Key responsibilities for the role:
- Evaluate and strengthen our social strategy to increase followers and boost user engagement on all platforms
- Collaborate closely with Harlem Globetrotters creative teams to drive cohesive vision
- Work with the internal and external video team on creating strategy for sharing original and UGC video on social platforms
- Grow our YouTube channel subscriber and view count by leveraging other platforms to drive traffic there
- Campaign planning and development setting goals and managing timelines
- Serves as a content creator for social platforms
- Work with our external YouTube partners to identify new audiences and collab partners
- Develop and execute a winning strategy for the team on TikTok that extends to other socials
- Be the voice of the Globetrotters and engage: turn viewers into followers, followers into fans
- Work closely with live event and sponsorship teams to delights fans and exceed sponsor expectations
Requirements
- Have a genuine passion for social media and the Harlem Globetrotters
- Speak the language of virality and basketball with equal fluency
- Understand the ecosystem and demonstrate the ability to grow subscribership
- Creative thinker who can create original/social-only “stories” and other content for engagement
- A creative writer with wit and personality that can flex to fit the space and embodies the right voice of the brand
- Excellent communication, cross-group collaboration, and planning skills
- Proficiency in the analytics platforms of YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, FB, Twitter
- Familiarity with Google Analytics and Excel and able to look at data to tell a story and pick out trends
- Ability to present social strategies and business results to senior leadership
- Someone with a mastery of both SEO and social optimization.
- Insatiable curiosity and a sense of humor
- 3-5 years of experience in digital media or marketing
- Sports / Video Production or Digital journalism background a plus
