Job Summary
What you will do
- Coordinate media requests with players and coaches under the guidance of the Director of Communications.
- Work with the Director, PR & Communications to formulate stories and pitches to further tell the stories of players, coaches and personnel on and off the field.
- Maintain weekly press clippings and assist with inventory and organization of the team collateral needed to promote the team.
- Assist with production of football-related content, primarily in the form of written press releases, player and personnel bios, team publications, franchise fact sheets, media advisories, team publications and content for social media/digital channels.
- Assist with the management of gameday public relations and stats crew, including scheduling of staff and necessary administrative responsibilities for both home and away games.
- Create informational graphics to promote key football related content and themes.
- Be prepared to work remotely for away games to handle all pregame and postgame football communications-related requests.
- Assist with gameday player relations and media relations operations, including pregame and postgame press conferences, team interviews, credential set-up, press box set-up, in-game media servicing and post-game quotes.
- Cultivate strong relationships with key external parties such as media, influencers, VIPs and dignitaries.
- Work with internal partners in Ticket Sales, Partnership, Marketing, Content, Community Relations and Game Presentation to provide access to players and coaches as needed.
- Maintain team communications calendar.
- Ensure maximum exposure for the team’s involvement in grassroots marketing efforts, fan/community relations events and social responsibility efforts.
- Assist in monitoring team media coverage and relevant chatter on social media and help track and log.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you will bring
- Between 1-2 years of public relations experience with an emphasis on communication skills and knowledge of consumer-facing sports (including football, media or entertainment industries).
- In-depth knowledge of football.
- Strong organizational, writing and editing skills.
- A self-starter with a proven track record to work independently and under tight deadlines.
- Ability to generate new and creative ideas, especially as it relates to statistics.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to multitask projects and work under pressure.
- Entrepreneurial spirit.
- Ability to use cautionary judgment when handling discretionary information.
- A self-starter, energetic and resilient, with the enthusiasm and determination to ensure that deliverables, timelines and objectives are achieved.
- Media relations experience onsite at press conferences, media junkets and sporting events.
- Research skills and ability to fact check.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Position requires attendance at evening and weekend events/games.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
- BS/BA required.
